The Reitzenberger couple wrote the following letter to the groom Salomon Bing in Memmelsdorf, who had shortly before become engaged to Jette's sister Babette Tuchmann:

Burgkundstadt, 20 January 1837

My dear brother‐in‐law!

I could hardly be blamed for beginning my letter thus. I can believe you when you say that you are with the bride, for I can speak from my own experience that when one is in a position, one has to pull oneself together a little if one wants to do right by all people. For the time being, I can write you nothing other than to ask you repeatedly to satisfy me with an answer and to tell me your further opinion about it, then we can pursue the matter further. What do the people in Ühlfeld say? What is new there? Hadn't they thought of us for the pleasure? This time Philipp was at home instead of Reitzenberger, that must have been quite funny, I would have liked to have been there too, especially since there had been some 1Shawarma, I console myself, when we are healthy, we will go on a pleasure trip together to Ühlfeld one day, but the whole family must arrive there, I will close for today, I will leave my dear wife plenty of room to write, she will have a lot to discuss with you, farewell and stay healthy as you wish, with the best of greetings from

from your brother‐in‐law.
Reitzenberger

My dear Salomon !

Hopefully, and as I sincerely wish, you will have arrived quite well in Memmelsdorf again and found everything in the greatest order, I should really quarrel with you that our new brotherhood, which we made in our most recent letters, got off to such a bad start and you left me in embarrassment for so long, but no, your own conscience will tell you how wrong you have acted towards me and I am truly too good to blame you for only one thing. I was very pleased that you undertook the journey to Ühlfeld so soon; did you also enjoy it there? Have you come clean with your Babette? Write me everything, I beg you, don't hide anything from me, nothing at all, only in this way can you make up for your offence.

How is your precious family in Scheinfeld? I would only like to have seen your dear mother, she must have had a good time with her dear little son, but you did not stay there long, at least it is proof to me that you liked being in Ühlfeld. Now a request, may you not have the goodness to get me half a hundredweight of plums ? I would not bother you with it if I had an opportunity to go to Ühlfeld now.

I don't know anything special to write today, I expect a big letter from you quite soon, then I will answer you dutifully and not make like my dear brother or much more the silly Bing.

In sending you my warmest greetings, and wishing you a happy life, I am

Yours, Jette Reitzenberger.

It's strange how women know how to help themselves right away and instead of quarrelling they can say the greatest compliments to one's face and it's really true who can quarrel with you? Now try to improve your past and don't embarrass us so much in the future, for I tell you sincerely that among all those who are indebted to you, no one is as devoted as your brother‐in‐law.

Reitzenberger.

In the blessing book of the teacher Ottenstein in Bamberg, the following entry was found under February II, 1865:

Into the holy state of matrimony will enter and this is proclaimed for the first, second, third time:
Mr. Simon Bachmann from Kronach with
Hedwig Reitzenberger from here.
The Lord give them his holy blessing. Amen.
May the Lord bless the newlyweds Mr. Simon Bachmann from Kronach and his bride Hedwig. May their marriage always be a happy one.

And under 4. 8. 1873 a similar entry for
Mr. Simon Bruckmann from Fürth with maiden Emma Reitzenberger from here.
